JCWI was featured extensively on Women’s Hour this morning – a full 12 minutes about the Aguilar case. Our caseworker, Richenda Buxton, explained the background to the case and began by telling the world that we are focusing on strategic casework which supports our policy work.
The full interview can be found on the BBC website. Listen from 13 minutes and 27 seconds into the programme where the case is explained and Helen Jeffery, Amber Aguilar’s mother, explains the human cost of the Home Office decision to ban all marriage visas for under 21s. Richenda comes in at 17 minutes and 25 seconds.
The interview follows up the excellent story in yesterday’s Times newspaper. Our chief executive, Habib Rahman, was also interviewed at 12.20 today by the BBC about asylum seekers and housing.
