Language tests & more…

The summer edition of JCWI’s excellent Bulletin is out now.

We have contributions from Neil Gerrard (MP for Walthamstow for 18 years) who tells us what’s missing from current immigration policy debates. Philippe Legrain deals with some of the myths surrounding immigrants and the economy, and the Archbishop of Canterbury writes about  immigrant contributions to the humanities.

We also let you know about our initial thoughts about the Governments new pre/post entry language tests http://i28.tinypic.com/j81ye1.png .  You’ll be hearing  more from us on this shortly.

We urge you to add your names to the  on line petition  against pre entry languag tests.’ It’s  been  put together  by some of the people who may potentially be affected by the Government’s new proposals.

Finally, Tony Benn, and Caroline Lucas MP lend their support to JCWI’s I love Migrants Campaign. We’re thinking of ways to develop this further, so if you have any bright  ideas about how you’d like to see our campaign develop please jot them down here (we always read your posts) or add them to our facebook wall

A copy of the Bulletin can be purchased from  tony.philip@jcwi.org.uk .
